All Members of the Asheville City Council
Asheville, North Carolina
Re: Forced Annexation of Biltmore Lake and Other Areas Surrounding
Asheville
Ladies and Gentlemen:
I am requesting that you vote NO to stop FORCED annexation at Biltmore
Lake and other areas not voluntarily requesting annexation, so that the
residents can avoid double taxation with basically no new or additional
services. I believe the citizens of the City of Asheville would be
better served if the City Council would continue to focus on other
important areas in the community such as: public safety, lack of
downtown parking, traffic congestion (whether State or Federal
Jurisdiction the City and County Governments need to work together and
use their resources to obtain funds to improve our roads in a more
timely manner), job creation and a continued effort to create more
affordable housing in the area.
While the city would gain additional revenue I believe the capital
expenditures required would be neutral or a losing proposition for the
City once they employ additional staff and equipment to serve the areas
being FORCED to annex into the City.
Again I urge you to vote NO on FORCED annexation at Biltmore Lake. I am
confident the City of Asheville can spend tax dollars more wisely than
potentially on litigation and legal fees.
Let all the citizens and all forms of government of this region work
together to find a win-win mutual solution as the Asheville Region
continues to grow.
Sincerely,
